CEX.io gets new legal entity

Folks at CEX.IO are making legal structure changes to optimize how this cryptocurrency exchange serves its customers in various jurisdictions. Hence, as of March 17, 2021, CEX users will be served by a new legal entity — CEX Overseas LTD.

cex io change in legal entity

What does this mean for you as a CEX.IO customer?

This change will not affect your account or the conditions of their service provision. All trading assets, payment instruments, and services will remain unchanged.

CEX.io cryptocurrency exchange will continue to provide you with our services within the same scope, keep improving and extending them.

CEX is not the first crypto exchange to go through new legal entity. Many also go through ownership changes.

For instance, Poloniex exchange was owned by a US entity and then became property of Justin Sun, who is founder of Tron cryptocurrency. Tron has its headquarters in China so Poloniex went from being a US owned company to a Chinese property.

As a CEX customer, there will be no changes required from side. It is great to see CEX being transparent on this though as most cryptocurrency exchanges do not even bother telling their users about changes in legal entity.
